How does Profhilo work?

As a stabilised product Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. It is described as an injectable moisturiser that forms a mesh under the skin to help smooth and tighten, and the effects last around 6 months. It particularly helps improve fine lines and crepey skin, and is usually used for patients aged 35 upwards. It uses the same ingredients as Dermal fillers, but in a much thinner, non-cross linked form, so it spreads under the skin, and gives a more natural result.

Where can Profhilo be used?

Profhilo is usually injected in a specific 10 point technique for each area, but this can be modified to treat specific areas of concern. It can be used to treat the face, neck, décolletage, hands, abdomen, knees and upper arms. The Profhilo Body treatment is the same ingredients, just in a larger syringe. The bumps last for up to 24 hours, before it disperses under the skin and is taken up by the cells to replace hyaluronic acid.

Recommended regimes

For best results, the first time having treatment it is recommended to have 2 syringes 4 weeks apart. You can repeat this 6 monthly. Or some patients opt to have 1 syringe every 3-4 months with their anti-wrinkle treatment. It can still be used if you are having dermal filler treatments, and some patients use it in between these treatments, to maintain results.

Profhilo Structura

Profhilo Structura is a new product in the Profhilo range, targeting the deeper structures in the cheeks to help with volume loss especially in the adipose (fat) layers. It is the same high concentration hyaluronic acid product, with a slightly thicker structure. It helps to reposition the fat pads that lose volume as we age, giving a more lifted and contoured appearance. A cannula is used to deliver the product. It is recommended to repeat the treatment after 4 weeks, then 6 monthly for best results.
